Krama Yoga India Adventure 2025
Join Doug and friends on this small group 12 night/ 13 day adventure through major spiritual cities of North India.
Destinations – New Delhi, Amritsar, Rishikesh, Haridwar and Agra.
This travelling retreat will be an adventure to remember. Consider it a two week cultural immersion into several of the main spiritual destinations of northern India. After many visits and specific planning we have managed to time the retreat to coincide with the right locations to guarantee an unforgettable experience.
The bustling New Delhi is not only the capital city of India it will be our starting and finishing stop of the trip. From Delhi we fly north west to the border city of Amritsar in the Punjab region to visit the holy Golden Temple and witness the famous Wagah border guard crossing. After two nights in Amritsar we take a day trip by train to Rishikesh, arguably the spiritual home of yoga right on the river Ganges where we will stay in traditional ashram accommodation. From Rishikesh it’s a short journey to Haridwar for a traditional Indian homestay experience before taking the train back to Delhi for our last stop on this unforgettable adventure – a visit to the world-famous Taj Mahal!
Sample day on retreat:
7:30am – 8:30am: Krama II Yoga Class.
8:30am – 9:30am: Breakfast.
9:30am – 5:00pm: Free time for visiting temples, shopping, eating, resting, adventuring or travelling.
5:00pm – 6:00pm: Yoga Workshop, Restorative Practice or Lecture.
6:30pm onwards: Dinner time, free time or sleep time.
India is the home not just of yoga but of Āyurveda, ashrams, Hindu stories and mysticism, mantra, wandering sādhus and of course samosas! Without a guide or trustworthy recommendations, it can be easy to get lost, waste time or miss out on the joy (and gems) of the beauty that is India.
Visiting like tourists; exploring like yogis.
Due to the success and positive feedback from our previous retreat we have planned another perfect Indian adventure. If you like your overseas trips to be sitting on a beach sipping cocktails then this is not the retreat for you. We will be staying in a range of accommodations; from 4-star hotels, to travelling by train and plane and even in an ashram. We’re going for the full experience.
Having explored northern India on several visits Doug will take us to some of the holiest cities of the north whilst walking the line of a tourist and a curious spiritual practitioner. There will be daily yoga classes and the opportunity to work on your own āsana practice whilst also learning the stories and the history of holy sites.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM DOUG
This trip is not designed to be a “holiday”, but rather a cultural, historic and yogic learning experience. Of course, we will visit many places and be guided in parts of your travels, but the adventure is going to keep us moving so the suggestion is to be prepared.
Some would say India is a “developing country.” Please try to limit your expectations especially in comparison to Australian standards. Students sit on the floor and live simply. We will visit temples and ashrams where we are visiting guests and in doing so should follow the traditions and rules (even if we feel in conflict with the justification) of each place we visit and stay. All reasonable measures will be taken to care for you, but sometimes the environments through which we will travel will impose limits. I ask you come on this adventure with us, bringing an open mind and a willingness to find comfort in the discomfort and beauty in the everyday experiences of life.

FAQs
What type of Retreats does Krama Yoga offer?
We offer a variety of Yoga Retreats aiming to extend your yoga practice beyond the physical. Most of our retreats dive deeper into āsana (postures), yoga philosophy, and bhakti. Previous Yoga Retreats we have hosted have taken us to different parts of the world, exploring our own backyard as well as cultures and comuntities overseas.
Why should I participate in a Yoga Retreat with Krama Yoga?
Participating in a Yoga Retreat with Krama Yoga is a great way to gain inspiration and learn about a particular topic that complements and deepens your yoga practice while exploring new countries and cultures as well as making new friends. As each Yoga Retreat has a different theory and practical component (some are week long adventures and some just for the weekend) there is the time and space to ask the questions that may go unanswered during a regular yoga class. Yoga Retreats are also a great intro into yoga and learning yoga basics, in addition to taking the time away from work and life commitments to rest, re-charge and connect with your Self.
What is the experience needed to attend a Yoga Retreat with Krama Yoga?
The only experience needed to join a Yoga Retreat with Krama Yoga is the curisoity and zest for life! Our Yoga Retreats range from big groups to small intimate settings. Some of our previous Yoga Retreat participants were beginners, some brought by their friends and family and some are life long yoga die-hards. Everyone is welcome on a Krama Yoga Retreat.
How long does a Krama Yoga Retreat go for?
Our Yoga Retreats can be short and sweet lasting a weekend. Other Yoga Retreats are two week adventures trekking or touring foreign countries. All Krama Yoga Retreats are different and we recommend reading about each retreat and emailing us with any questions before booking.
